ABOUT THE RARE BREEDS RANCH MINIATURE JERSEYS
The cattle in this offering are of a size, Mid Miniature being 42 to 46 inches at the hip, a few taller and a few shorter (full mini size scale). They are suited for Homestead use, Ranch use, self sufficiency use, anywhere that owners want to be able to produce milk and it's many biproducts and have butcher steers as well. I invite anyone who has questions to call or message as I will be most willing to help.
As of JULY 1, 2019 We are offering most of our Miniature Jersey breeding program for sale as we venture toward Semi-retirement. The development of the American Miniature Jersey Association and Registry was done with the plan in mind of being all inclusive and providing a place to register all Miniature and Mid-Miniature Jerseys as well as Breeding Stock of Jersey and other complimentary breeds. With this philosophy in mind Marlin and I set out to use the Upbreeding program to down breed in size and breed each generation closer to the IDEAL Miniature Jersey. I have done the AMJA&R Registry for the past 12-13 years so please ask about the registry as well.
When one decides to 'get into' the Miniature Jersey realm there are two ways to accomplish this goal. One is to make the capital investments required to purchase the most ideal individuals that you can find. The second way is to create a Breeding program based on the best quality and what fits affordability. As Rare Breeds Ranch has raised hundreds of 'extra' calves on nurse cows through over 30 years we decided to use our existing good nurse cows starting in 2013 breeding them Miniature Jersey. This plan takes time, theoretically, about 8 years to reach Native Pure and ultimately Foundation Pure status.
We are now offering the opportunity to anyone interested to save years of time and benefit from our breeding program. About 12 bred cows and heifers and 6 bulls are in the offering. If you decide to purchase, bear in mind that we have saved you many years of strife to get to this point and that the offspring from these miniature and mid-miniatures are in the process of coming way up in percentage of miniature Jersey blood and down in size to fit the Miniature Jersey mold.
All of them are blessed with very productive dams and top quality, well known, original Miniature Jersey Foundation sire lines.
